Everything you need to know before you visit

Yes! Indian nationals require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) and foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit (PAP). These can be obtained online at https://www.lahdclehpermit.in/ or from DC offices in Leh. Carry printed copies — they are checked at multiple checkpoints including Chang La.

The ideal time is May to September. The roads are open, weather is pleasant (10°C–25°C during day), and the lake is at its most vibrant turquoise. Avoid October–April as the region experiences extreme cold and most routes are closed due to heavy snowfall.

Only postpaid SIM cards work in the Pangong area. Operators like BSNL, Airtel and JIO work in the area. Prepaid SIMs, including BSNL/Jio/Airtel prepaid, do not work. Internet connectivity is limited. We recommend downloading offline maps and informing family before arrival. This is part of the authentic off-grid experience!

Pangong Lake is at 4,350 meters (14,270 ft). Spend at least 2 days acclimatizing in Leh before heading to Pangong. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, take it slow, and carry Diamox (altitude sickness medication) if prescribed. We always keep basic first aid and warm food available for our guests.

Yes! We serve homemade meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our menu features Dal Rice, Rajma Chawal, Maggi, and more. Drinking water is provided. We recommend also carrying your own bottles and avoiding tap water directly.

No ATMs are available near Pangong Lake. The nearest ATM is in Leh town (~160 km away). Please carry sufficient cash before leaving Leh. We accept cash for payment. UPI sometimes works with BSNL/Airtel/JIO postpaid networks or SIM that are registered in Ladakh.
